Chacaltaya Mountain is an iconic peak overlooking the twin cities of El Alto and La Paz. Once famous for being the site of the world’s highest ski resort, it is now internationally infamous for being the site of on of the Andes’ first disappearing glaciers. In fact, as of 2014 the entire glaciar had disappeared and while the ski slopes are gone. On our half-day excursion, we head up and out of La Paz and into El Alto before heading even further up as we wind our way up to the peak. Once there, you’ll have some time to take a short walk, take in the impressive views in all directions and reflect on the ways that climate change is impacting all of us.
*Remember, you can combine this tour with a Moon Valley Half-day visit to take the most out of your time in La Paz. Don’t hesitate to ask us fo rmore info!
