Ready for the two-thousand-year-old Tiwanaku archeological ruins and sacred Lake Titicaca? On the same day?!? On our special combo expedition, we head out of La Paz at 7:30am en route to Huatajata, a small farming village on the shore of Titicaca where we’ll visit the Titi Ethnographic Museum, focused on the past and present cultures living around the lake and with a special emphasis on totora reed boat-building. When we are through at the museum we’ll then take a spin on a boat made from totora reeds before having lunch (not included on the price) in town. After lunch we set off for Tiwanaku to visit the UNESCO-recognized archaeological site and museum before returning to La Paz, arriving at about 6:00pm. The Tiwanaku culture was tightly linked to Lake Titicaca and this fascinating tour blends the past with the present and makes for a wonderful excursion through time and across landscapes.
