Dreaming of a full-day Tuni Condoriri trek through the spectacular, glaciated Andes? Travelers in good physical condition are invited to join La Paz on Foot on a day trek to Tuni Condoriri (a.k.a Janchillani). No special equipment is required, just good hiking boots, warm, layered clothing, sun, wind and rain protection and a passion for high mountain landscapes. Janchillani is a 1.5 hour journey from La Paz and your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel, get you out of La Paz and El Alto before the traffic turns ugly and take you through the vast Bolivian Altiplano en route to the Royal Range (Cordillera Real). The trek starts at an altitude of 4400m and rises slowly to the beautiful, turquoise Chiar Khota Lake (4600m), at the base of enormous glaciated peaks. The trail then begins to rise more steeply and after about 2.5 hours we stop for a picnic lunch. with spectacular views of the Cordillera and, if conditions are good, Lake Titicaca to the west. If you feel like going a little further to the glacier before returning, just ask your guide. We then return below with an easy (mostly downhill) trek to the auto, about 2.5-3 hours.
